ULS Gaia/Espinho
Joana Marinho is a medical oncologist at ULSGE, specializing in genitourinary and gastrointestinal tumors, as well as geriatric oncology. She is the Coordinator of the Oncology Day Hospital, responsible for overseeing patient care and treatment protocols. She holds a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Coimbra and a postgraduate degree in Venous Thromboembolic Disease and Cancer from the Catholic University of Murcia. Dr. Joana Marinho plays an active role in national and international oncology organizations. She is President of AICSO, the Portuguese affiliate of the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC), an organization dedicated to promoting research and training in supportive care. As a MASCC member, she collaborates with the Geriatrics Study Group. She is also a member of the International Society of Geriatric Oncology (SIOG), participating in the Young SIOG interest group. In Portugal, she is a member of the Portuguese Society of Oncology (SPO), collaborating with the Geriatric Oncology Working Group and the Liver and Biliary Tract Tumors Study Group. Reinforcing her commitment to education, she serves as an Adjunct Professor at the School of Nursing of the Red Cross.
