Eduardo Espada completed his undergraduate medical training in the Integrated Master’s in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lisbon, in 2010, with a Master’s thesis entitled “Descriptive and Comparative Analysis of the National Bone Marrow Donor Registry.” He undertook his General Internship at Hospital Prof. Doutor Fernando Fonseca in 2011, followed by his Residency in Clinical Hematology at the Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation Department of the Centro Hospitalar Universitário de Lisboa Norte, EPE (currently Unidade Local de Saúde Santa Maria) – Hospital de Santa Maria, from 2012 to 2020. Between 2015 and 2016, he temporarily interrupted his residency to complete a Research Fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Jerome Ritz at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Since 2020, he has been a Consultant in Clinical Hematology at the Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation Department of the Unidade Local de Saúde Santa Maria – Hospital de Santa Maria. He is a member and Quality Manager of the Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit, as well as a member of the CAR-T team. In addition, since September 2023, he has served as the Medical Director of CEDACE, the Portuguese Bone Marrow Donor Registry, integrated into the Portuguese Institute of Blood and Transplantation (Instituto Português do Sangue e da Transplantação, IP). Since October 2021, he has also been serving as an Invited Assistant Lecturer in Hematology in the Integrated Master’s in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lisbon, where he is currently completing his Doctoral Program in Medicine.
